How do I use FreeMap?
Simply open the app and allow location access. The radar will automatically show nearby WiFi hotspots (blue) and public restrooms (orange). Tap the map icon to switch to map view.
Does the app work offline?
Yes! The radar mode works 100% offline using cached data. Map tiles require an internet connection, but location data is stored locally on your device.
Why does the app need location permission?
FreeMap needs your location to show nearby WiFi hotspots and restrooms, calculate distances, and provide compass-based direction guidance. Your location data is never stored or shared.
How accurate is the location data?
All location data is sourced from official Korean government open data portals. We have over 77,000 verified locations across South Korea, regularly updated for accuracy.
The app doesn't show any locations. What should I do?
FreeMap currently covers South Korea only. If you're outside Korea, use the "Goto Korea" feature in the menu to view available locations. Make sure you have allowed location permissions.
How can I filter between WiFi and restrooms?
Use the toggle buttons at the top of the screen. Tap the WiFi or Toilet icon to show/hide that type of location.
Is this app free?
Yes, FreeMap is completely free with no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases.
What languages are supported?
FreeMap supports English, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. You can change the language in the menu.
